Tuna Salad Jar

I have seen these salad jars OR upside-down salads all over the internet! So I thought I would have a go and see what the fuss is really about!!

This is a great way to pack salads when you are on the go! You can simply eat it from the jar or flip it into a plate when you're ready to eat!

Ingredients

  • Mixed spinach and lettuce

  • Corn

  • Capsicum

  • Cucumber

  • Shallots

  • Walnuts

  • Beetroot

  • Tuna

Methods

The only thing I really have to say here is that if you are eating it from the jar and storing it like this in your fridge pack the WET ingredients on the BOTTOM and the DRY ingredients on the TOP!

For instance pack your salad in the following order:

  1. Beetroot

  2. Tuna

  3. Cucumber, capsicum, corn, challots

  4. Mixed lettuce

  5. Walnuts

This is just to make sure your dry ingredients dont get soggy. And if you are tuning the salad onto the plate the juices from the beetroot and tuna will automatically drizzle over the rest of your salad!!

Other options

You can literally make these salads however you wish! You can use:

  • Chicken, lean pork

  • Boiled eggs

  • Tofu, haloumi, chickpeas (v)

  • Other salad veggies (or even grilled veggies)

  • Quinoa, nuts & seeds

The possibilities are endless! Just make sure if you are storing them for more than one day WET INGREDIENTS ON THE BOTTOM!!! (no-one likes a soggy salad)

Is the jar really necessary? NO

The jar is not necessary! It looks good and instagram worthy but it doesn't change the inside ingredients at all! If you want your salad to look a little extra in front of your workmates then by all means, use a jar BUT an ordinary Tupperware container works perfectly fine!!

Enjoy xx
